Choosing the Right Stonelite Profile Shower Base
Understanding tile flange configurations
The tile flange is the raised lip around the edge of the base that sits behind your shower screen or wall tiles. A 2 tile flange base has flanges on two sides, used when the shower sits in a corner and two walls are tiled up to the base. The 3 tile flange option adds a flange on the third side and is used when the shower is recessed into an alcove with three tiled walls. Left hand and right hand refer to which side the outlet pipe exits — this needs to match your plumbing rough-in before the slab is poured or the floor is set.
Size selection
The 900×900mm base suits a standard corner shower recess. The 1000×1000mm option gives a noticeably more comfortable shower floor area and is a popular upgrade in new builds and renovations. The 1200×900mm base is suited to a rectangular shower recess and works well with a fixed panel or inline shower screen layout.
Zero threshold installation
The Profile base complies with the ABCB Liveable Housing Design Standard Part 5.2 when installed with a zero threshold, making it suitable for accessible bathroom designs. This requires careful co-ordination with your tiler and waterproofer to ensure the surrounding floor level meets the base lip without a step.
Replacement grates
Spare grates are stocked separately in polished stainless steel, matte black stainless steel and white stainless steel, allowing you to match the grate finish to your tapware or screen hardware after installation.
