Tile Insert vs Surface Grates
Tile Insert Grates
Tile insert grates are designed to sit flush with the surrounding tiles, with a recessed channel that holds a cut piece of matching tile. This creates a near-invisible drainage line, since the grate itself blends into the floor rather than standing out as a separate fixture.
Surface Grates
Surface grates sit visibly on top of the floor and come finished in a chosen colour, such as chrome, matte black or brushed gold. They're a straightforward option where a tiled insert isn't practical, and can also serve as a deliberate design feature against contrasting tiles.
Choosing the Right Length
VICTILES stocks linear floor grates ranging from compact 600mm shower grates through to long 5600mm storm water and drainage channels suited to larger wet areas, balconies and outdoor applications. Standard shower grate lengths of 600mm to 1200mm suit most residential bathrooms, while the longer channel options are typically used for commercial or whole-of-room drainage.
