Both chevron and herringbone use rectangular planks laid at angles to create a V-shaped pattern, but they differ in how the ends are cut. Chevron planks have angled ends that meet at a perfect point, creating a continuous V pattern. Herringbone planks have square ends and create a broken zigzag pattern.
