How to Choose the Right Concealed Cistern
Back-to-wall vs wall hung — which frame do you need?
The most important first decision is whether your toilet pan is a back-to-wall (floor-mounted) or wall-hung model. A back-to-wall pan sits on the floor with the cistern behind the wall; a wall-hung pan is suspended off the floor with the full weight supported by the cistern frame. These require different frame types — they are not interchangeable. Confirm your pan type before ordering.
R&T vs Geberit
R&T cisterns are a cost-effective choice for standard back-to-wall and wall-hung installations. The MC-03 uses a direct mechanical connection to the push plate, while the MC-035 uses a pneumatic (air-pressure) connection — useful where the cistern sits deep in the wall. Geberit Sigma and Kappa systems use a heavier-duty steel carrier frame and support the full Geberit Sigma push plate range, which includes premium finishes such as brushed gold, gunmetal and glass. If you are specifying a high-end bathroom with a premium push plate, Geberit is the stronger platform.
Compatibility with push plates
Concealed cisterns and push plates must be matched by brand. R&T cisterns work with R&T push plates, and Geberit cisterns work with Geberit Sigma or Kappa plates. Mixing brands will result in the mechanism not connecting. VICTILES stocks matching push plates in the Push Plate Buttons collection.
